Money out and premises
Where do I record office, phone or premises costs?
Quick answer
Open Money Out, enter the payment details and attach the bill or receipt. Choose the closest category shown, such as Phone, internet and office; Premises, bills and insurance; or Repairs and maintenance. If a cost is partly personal or relates to working from home, do not automatically include the full payment as allowable. Check the current GOV.UK guidance for the business portion and the customer’s accounting method.
Step by step
- Choose Money Out and enter the date, amount, supplier and a useful description.
- Choose the closest category: Phone, internet and office; Premises, bills and insurance; or Repairs and maintenance.
- Attach the bill or receipt so the payment keeps its evidence.
- If the payment includes personal use or working-from-home costs, record only the appropriate business portion in allowable totals.
- Check the linked GOV.UK guidance before filing or giving tax advice.
